We raise beef cattle from a cow-calf, grass-fed
herd based near Ammansville, Texas in the rolling prairie of Fayette
county.
The cattle are given no hormones, antibiotics, parasiticides,
or other chemicals. They are raised in open pastures and are
not fattened in feed lots. As a result, the beef is lower in the
saturated fat associated with heart disease, and higher in the omega-3
fatty acids and conjugated linoleic acids linked to support of the
immune system and protection against cancer and diabetes.
Grassfed beef is also found to have higher levels of the antioxidants,
vitamin E and beta-carotene, which evidently reduce cardiovascular
risks. Please
see the websites for the American
Grassfed Association and the
Organic Grassfed Beef Coalition for more background on the benefits of grassfed and organic beef.
The cattle graze the pastures briefly under an intensive
13-cell rotation, allowing native grasses and forbs to recover and
regrow. The land receives no artificial fertilizers, pesticides,
herbicides, or other chemicals. Texas Parks and Wildlife recognized
the operation in its Lone
Star Land Steward program for progressive work on land protection
and restoration. The Texas
Department of Agriculture tests and certifies the herd and land
as organic, under the National Organic Program and Organic Foods
Production Act of 1990.
We hope you will try some beef from SWT Cattle, and believe
that you'll find it to be healthy, tender, and tasty. |
